Inaugural Micah 6:8 Day

Jul 08, 2020

Social justice is important in our school community and in the context of what has been happening around the world, the Student Representative Council hosted our school's inaugural Micah 6:8 day. This is a day that will be set aside each year for students to reflect on a social justice issue and on what it means to, "act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with your God" (Micah 6;8).

On June 24, students participated in a variety of activities that encouraged them to think about how they may act in a just and compassionate way to support the wellbeing of others. Students also raised money for a community-based program in Redfern that provides a variety of services to both indigenous and non- indigenous Australians.

Two of our First Nations students bravely shared some of their own story and the SRC organised the painting of two banners that are now displayed in the school's John Eastwood Hall. We are proud of each and every student in our school and the inclusive multi-cultural community that we are.

Adventist Education's motto, Nurture for Today, Learning for Tomorrow and Character of Eternity like Micah 6:8 is our call to be part of the solution and it is our hope that with our Micah 6:8 day we can encourage young people to do the same.
